"The Path Within:" #2 Niyama - Creating personal rituals that nourish you

The Niyamas bring us inward. They ask: how are you tending to your inner landscape? What habits, practices, and patterns shape your daily experience of self?

This is an 8-part series of 5-minute practices inspired by the 8-limbs of yoga and offers something for everyone with an option to try something new outside of what modern life wants you to think yoga is.

Practice 2: Niyama

If the Yamas are about how we relate to the outside world, the Niyamas bring us inward. They ask: how are you tending to your inner landscape? What habits, practices, and patterns shape your daily experience of self?

The five Niyamas offer a framework for personal discipline, but not the kind rooted in punishment or rigidity. This is about devotion, repetition. The small rituals that make your nervous system feel safe, your spirit feel steady, and your days feel just a little more yours.

This is the yoga of your real life: the way you wake up, speak to yourself, care for your body, and surrender to something greater when things don’t go as planned.

These rituals are not symbolic fluff. They help re-pattern the nervous system, enhance emotional resilience, and create micro-moments of safety and self-trust. Through small consistent acts, we remind ourselves that we are worth tending to.
